Missouri State University is accepting applications for a Grant Development Specialist for the Development Office at the West Plains Campus. Responsibilities include assisting faculty and staff in writing proposals for large-scale projects, reviewing and editing proposals; assisting in developing cross-disciplinary grant-writing teams; assisting in training faculty and staff in identifying funding opportunities, developing competitive proposals, and other aspects necessary for obtaining external funding; working with the Office of Sponsored Research & Programs to ensure that proposals are in compliance with applicable laws and federal regulations relating to external funding of University research, instruction, and public service programs.

Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred. Additional requirements include five years of experience in writing and developing proposals for funding from government organizations, foundations, companies, and associations; experience in preparing application forms and budgeting for proposals; effective oral and written communication skills; word processing and electronic spreadsheet skills; demonstrated knowledge and application of standard budgeting procedures; knowledge and understanding of research ethics and confidentiality principles and practices as defined by the Office of Research Integrity; ability to make sound decisions by applying policies and procedures and using available resources; ability to analyze information and research a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues; ability to work independently and with limited supervision; and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. May require working evenings and weekends in order to ensure timely submission of grant applications and to meet deadlines.
