The American College Personnel Association. Commission IX: Assessment for Student Learning focuses on using assessment data for student development programming. It also offers research grants for academic professionals.

North Central Association. Information on what accrediting teams want and assessment levels.

Governmental Agencies

ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center). A primary educational research database of over 1.1 million items sponsored by the U. S. Department of Education. ERIC is also accessible from the Missouri State Libraries online databases. (ED documents are available on microfiche through Missouri State University libraries; location of EJ items (journals) can be determined by using TDNet on the Missouri State University libraries web site.)

National Center for Education Statistics. Provides U.S. education statistics. Also has a School/Library Search to locate information and statistics for colleges, private schools, public schools, and public libraries.

Organizations

American College Testing (ACT) program. Testing and placement instruments, including COMPASS and ASSET, as well as their research and consulting programs.

Association of Institutional Research. Includes links on many topics in higher education, including assessment. Offers an online newsletter and ways to display data.

Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Information on assessment and accreditation with a section on good practices.

Educational Testing Services (ETS). Higher education assessment instruments, including general education instruments, major field tests, and course evaluations.

National Center for Higher Education Management Systems. Information and services on assessment management capabilities.

Publishers

Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education. Journal focuses on these issues in postsecondary education. (This journal is available in full text through the library database for later issues or Missouri University libraries Interlibrary Loan for articles written within the last year.)

California Academic Press. Specializes in assessing critical thinking. Offers consulting and tests.
