- Business Plan The student will be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of the importance of a business plan in attaining success in business. Students should know the basic elements of a good business plan and be able to construct a “mini business plan.”
- Employee Motivation Students should clearly comprehend the importance of employee motivation as an essential ingredient of business success. Specifically, students should be able to comprehend and explain Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory and McGregor’s Theory X and Theory Y.
- Higher Order Thinking Students should be able to analyze and synthesize information from a variety of sources and apply the results to resolving complex situations, and problems.

- A combination of a student portfolio and a management by objectives approach will be used to assess student proficiency in this area. The portfolio will contain a business plan project that should reflect student proficiency. In addition, one-on-one meetings with students (MBO) will aid the instructor in filling in the gaps and answering student questions about business plans. The instructor will be responsible for assessing proficiency and maintaining documentation of this assessment.
