Development and Alumni Relations
When it comes to keeping the Garnett Library up to date with the latest resources and technology, Missouri State University-West Plains can always count on its friends—Friends of the Garnett Library that is.
Formed in 1992 shortly after the opening of the Garnett Library, the Friends organization has been a valuable link between the community and the university in helping to raise awareness of the services offered by the library and its needs. Members have worked diligently to ensure shelves are filled with current publications and computerized instructional equipment is kept updated to assist students with learning and faculty with teaching.
A Friends membership is a great way to support the Garnett Library. Dues vary by membership level, but all members are given access to over two million books and periodicals through the Garnett Library in West Plains and the Meyer Library at the Missouri State University campus in Springfield. Monthly meetings are held from September through April, which include interesting programs as well as food and fun!
Other ways to show your support include attending the events and activities hosted by Friends or donating to the Garnett Library book fund. Book fund donations provide a great opportunity to make a gift in honor or memory of someone special. Each book acquired from a donation is affixed with a bookplate identifying the donor and honoree.
Many of the resources in the Garnett Library are the direct result of the outstanding support of our Friends. Please consider joining the Friends of the Garnett Library today and become a part of improving the future.
