Student Advisement and Academic Support
The Writing Center is available for writers at all stages of composition. The tutoring process is one-on-one. In both face-to-face and online tutoring, students can help the tutors by explaining what class the assignment is for, what the assignment is and what kind of feedback they want in the session. That way, tutors can give students targeted feedback that will be more helpful.
For face to face tutoring, students will meet with a tutor in the Writing Lab (Garnett 102). Students can either make an appointment or drop in for tutoring. Please note that appointments will get priority service. For online tutoring, students can send their paper to the Online Writing Lab and get feedback in their email inboxes within 24 hours.
Is math your favorite subject? Whether your answer is "yes" or "no," you will find our tutors to be helpful. Tutoring is offered on a drop-in basis; no appointment is necessary. You can come in with just a question or two, or sit down for a longer discussion.
SAAS organizes study groups for a variety of classes, including Biology, Chemistry, History and Political Science. Check the Tutoring Schedule for meeting times. If you would like to start a study group for a course not listed, please contact the SAAS office.
SAAS coordinates efforts to provide a supportive community of faculty, staff, and students. A study hall is supervised by a professional coordinator and trained tutors who lead study groups and help student athletes improve their study skills.
