College Basic Academic Subjects Examination (CBASE)

Fees:

  • $50 before deadine;
  • $60 after deadline; or
  • $70 day of test.

Process:

Register at SAAS Office.  The test fee must be paid at the time of registration.

Audience:

Students who wish to enter the Teacher Education Program

Other:

On the date of the test bring the following items:

  • Two number 2 pencils;
  • Missouri Driver's Licenses or Non-Driver ID; and
  • If you wish, you may bring a basic calculator; scientific or graphing calculators arenot permitted . For more information about approved calculators, see: http://ARC.Missouri.edu/CollegeBASE/.

Focus:

Students must pass all parts (English, mathematics, science and social studies) of the College Basic Academic Subjects Examination with a score of 265.

Besides assessing knowledge and skill in the four areas, the CBASE also measures three cross-disciplinary reasoning competencies: interpretive, strategic and adaptive.

Questions on the College BASE reflect the broad range of knowledge that most universities and colleges, including junior and community colleges, expect their students to acquire by the end of the sophomore year. The test emphasizes though processes; broad concepts; and major figures, movements and institutions. Because of the breadth of the examination, you should not study for College BASE the way you do for a test in a specific course. If you have successfully completed a typical lower-division course of study, you should be well-prepared for this examination.
