WEST PLAINS, Mo.– A variety of items are rolling in for Missouri State University-West Plains’ 14th Annual Auction, set for Saturday, April 5, at the West Plains Opera House on Court Square in downtown West Plains.
“We have received a number of high-end value items as well as several gift certificates and other nice items valued in the $20 range,” said Joe Kammerer, Assistant Director of Development at Missouri State-West Plains.  “We think everyone who attends will find something that will appeal to them.”
Among the items donated early are a Toro Timecutter lawn mower donated by Hirsch Feed & Farm Supply; a seven diamond, one karat Journey necklace offered by Southern Hills Jewelry; autographed baseballs from former Major League Baseball player and West Plains native Bill Virdon; one-night stays donated by Dawt Mill and Stone Ridge Inn Bed and Breakfast; two one-day general admission tickets to Six Flags Over St. Louis; two one-day passes to Silver Dollar City; a beautiful hand-stitched quilt by Mrs. Zalla Conger of West Plains; newspaper subscriptions from the West Plains Daily Quill; gift certificates for hair cuts at Perfect 10; cakes, candies and fudge donated by Susan Courter; and a gift certificate for carpet cleaning services offered by Restore Carpet Cleaning.
Many of the items that have been donated are listed on the campus’ auction Web site at http://www.wp.missouristate.edu/Development/Auction.htm.  “Not all of the items we have received are listed on the Web site, but we’ve included a selection of items that represent the wide variety of donations we are receiving,” Director of Development Sue Bunning said.  “This is the first time we’ve placed auction items online prior to the event, and we hope everyone will log on and begin thinking about the items they would like to bid on.”
Themed “A Night of a Thousand Stars,” the event will get underway at 6:30 p.m. with a silent auction.  The live auction will follow at 8 p.m.  In keeping with the Hollywood theme, those attending will enter on a red carpet and be greeted by some of their favorite “stars.”  They also may choose to have their photo taken by the “paparazzi.”
Tickets to the event are $25 each, $10 of which will be a tax deductible contribution.  The ticket price includes hors d’oeuvres, soft drinks and a cash bar.  Tickets are available through the Missouri State-West Plains Office of Development at 905 W. Main St.  Proceeds will be used to purchase property within Missouri State-West Plains’ Master Plan Visioning Guide.
For more information about the event or to donate an item for the auction, contact the Office of Development at 417-255-7240.
