WEST PLAINS, Mo. – After picking up their first Region 16 win of the season this past weekend, the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Basketball team was hoping it had turned a corner in region, but that didn’t turn out to be the case.

Tuesday night, Feb. 10, the Grizzlies fell to State Fair Community College of Sedalia, Mo., 73-62 at the West Plains Civic Center arena in a game that had been postponed due to inclement weather.  The Grizzlies are now 12-13 overall for the season and 1-4 in region competition.

The Grizzlies were just three points behind the Roadrunners at halftime, 33-30, but they were outscored by their visitors 40-32 in the second half.

Only two Grizzlies scored in double figures.  Sophomores Devon Peltier and Logan Nutt had 30 and 10 points, respectively.  Sophomore Chris Williams scored 7; sophomore Anthony Allison and freshman Ivan Gombovic each with 4, freshman Taylor Jones 3, and freshmen Terrell Bruce and Xavier Jones each with 2.

The Grizzlies hit 25 of 52 attempts from the field for 48.1 percent and six of 18 shots from three-point range for 33.3 percent.  They also made six of 10 attempts from the charity stripe for 60 percent.

Three Roadrunners were double-digit scorers.  Dijon Smith had 15, Clifton Fleming 12 and Milton Garner 10.  As a team, State Fair hit 27 of 50 shots from the field for 54 percent, two of 11 shots from three-point range for 18.2 percent and 17 of 20 free throws for 85 percent.

The Grizzlies will continue Region 16 play on Saturday, Feb. 14, when they travel to Poplar Bluff to face the region leader, Three Rivers Community College, in the Bess Activity Center on campus.  Three Rivers is 21-4 overall and 6-0 in the region.
